Action will be taken against negligence of web error: Palak
The State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the personal information of the citizens was exposed due to system error and non-application of security patch of hyper test transfer protocol of the website. Without disclosing the name of the website, the accused government website was placed in the 27th position of the list of critical information infrastructure listed in the ICT Division's BGD E GOV CIRT, he said.
The State Minister for ICT informed so, while answering to various questions of journalists at the ICT Tower on Sunday.
It is worth noting that, according to the provisions of Section 15 of the Digital Security Act-2018, there was the birth-death registration website in that list.
In response to reporters' questions, he said, 'It is not a hacking incident. Neither are cyber security threats. It was technical vulnerable weakness.'
In response to another question, the state minister said that action will be taken against those concerned in the relevant ministry, stating that this has happened due to negligence of duty. He said, "Those who have neglected their duties, the relevant ministries and agencies will take strict action against them." The state minister also said that security of information along with money has become the most important thing now. After we have said it repeatedly, we have categorized data protection as Personal, Institutional, Classified, and Exclusive. I have repeatedly asked them to follow the general guidelines. I talked about doing external audit, minimum penetration and vulnerable test to control the situation. But it was not followed. They even didn't take the minimum measures. So this liability cannot be avoided. This is causing great damage to the country.'
The state minister also said that an urgent meeting has been called at the office of CIRT on Monday regarding 29 CII for a solution.
